STYLES
CLASSICAL BALLET
The traditional art form, reinforcing posture, suppleness, stretching, balance, alignment, strength and vocabulary. Optional entry into the Borovansky memorial Australian Academy of Dance (BMAAD) syllabus for exams in August and November which includes compulsory attendance during school holiday programmes in July and October. Uniform :: ‘primary’ to ‘preparation grade 5’ pink leotard, chiffon skirt, tights and pink ballet shoes. ‘grade 5 upwards’ maroon leotard, chiffon skirt, pink ballet shoes. Character skirt, black three quarter length and black character shoes.
CLASSICAL/JAZZ COMBO
A foundation of both classical ballet and jazz ballet. An excellent introduction to dance with both slow and controlled technique and the faster rhythms of boppy jazz ballet. For Uniform see Classical Ballet.
CREATIVE DANCE
A fun introduction to classical and jazz movements for toddlers exposing children to different music and movement, enhancing their co-ordination and spacial awareness. Uniform :: same as classical ballet
JAZZ/HIP HOP
Traditional jazz movements combined with the latest in hip hop moves. Uniform :: black dance pants or cycle pants. Any colour leotard or crop top. Tops not to be baggy or loose. Tan or black jazz shoes.
HIP HOP
In keeping with current dance trends Hip Hop is a collective term for the latest dance styles as seen in video clips and commercials etc. Uniform :: same as jazz hip hop.
JAZZ
Has a structured technique diversifying and including classic jazz moves from legendary musical theatre and cabaret choreographers.
TAP DANCE
Promotes rhythm and percussion. Uniform :: black dance pants, cycle pants or flip skirt. Tan tap shoes.
